Village of Lake Orion Registered Voters

The petition is to disincorporate the Village of Lake Orion into the Charter

Township of Orion. This will reduce your property taxes by up to 30 percent. It

will also reduce your water bill since we purchase our water from the township.

1. The township is our fire department

2. The township is our building department

3. The township handles our elections

4. We already vote for the township trustee’s, clerk, treasurer and supervisor

5. At some point the village will run out of funds or increase your taxes

without the voters having any choice

6. The township residence pays 10 mills; we in the village pay 20 mills.

7. The village residence pay twice as much, but a great deal of our services

come from the township

8. The downtown doesn’t change and the DDA will stay intact

9. The township has the money and the facilities that we don’t have

10. Many elderly will be forced to sell their homes because of high taxes and

being on a fixed income.

11. The township has a full time planner and engineer to make sure new

developments are monitored and done correctly

12. We are the township with a secondary government that can raise our

taxes anytime without a vote of the people

13. Some want to make us a city, if we become a city they can also charge us

income tax without a vote of the people.

14. We can’t afford the infrastructure and over 6 miles of roads, Townships

can’t own roads so that falls on the county that we already pay taxes to

them.

REGISTERED VILLAGE VOTERS ONLY CAN SIGN

Note we do not want to defund the DDA. Tuesday November 7th get out and

vote NO on defunding the DDA. The Village took a 5 million dollars loan that is

payable by the DDA. If the DDA is Defunded our taxes will need to increase to

pay for this loan. DEFUNDING the DDA will not reduce your taxes but will most

likely increase them.
